Racing Stripes – DivX Version (Normal Quality), DVD (Good Quality), PDA Version
|
IMDB rating: 5.30 Plot: In the middle of a raging thunderstorm, a traveling circus accidentally leaves behind some very precious cargo—a baby zebra. The gangly little foal is rescued by horse farmer Nolan Walsh, who takes him home to his young daughter Channing. Once a champion thoroughbred trainer, Walsh has given up horse training for a quiet life with Channing on their modest Kentucky farm. The little zebra, or “Stripes,” as Channing calls him, is soon introduced to the farm’s misfit troupe of barnyard residents, led by a cranky Shetland Pony named Tucker and Franny, a wise old goat who keeps the family in line. The group is joined by Goose, a deranged big-city pelican who’s hiding out in the sticks until the heat dies down in Jersey. The un-aptly named bloodhound Lightening keeps a lazy eye on goings-on at the farm – in between naps. The Walsh farm borders the Turfway Racetrack, where highly skilled thoroughbreds compete for horse racing’s top honor, the ultra-prestigious Kentucky Crown. From the first moment Stripes lays eyes on the track, he’s hooked—he knows that if he could just get the chance, he could leave all those other horses in the dust. What he doesn’t know is—he’s not exactly a horse. But with characteristic zeal, he devotes himself to training for the big time, with a little help from Tucker, who has coached a host of champion racehorses in the past. |

Would my '77 Trans Am be worth more stock or with Nitros?
Just bought a 1977 Pontiac Trans Am today. Am thinking of fixing it up a little and selling it. It has been customized to the previous owner’s tastes. It has a high-end paint job on it with kind of some ghost stripes and all of the original Pontiac decals were removed. It has a turbo add on, a Nitros Oxide system with a tank in the trunk, Fancy American Racing rims–big in back, smaller in front. New tires. Custom-made wooden console with guages and switches. Close-ratio 4 speed tranny, & it’s geared real low. Runs really nice. The Nitros hasn’t been used in 10 years. (the gentleman that had it passed away and his wife just finally sold the car) Has 51K miles–looks original mileage to me. T-tops, etc. Should I work with what I have? Or should I buy a set of snowflake rims, get rid of the Nitros set-up, Put on a decal kit with the big bird on the hood, etc. Which would be most cost-effective when reselling in the spring?
you should remove the nitro definitley because you will get more sellers and it is less dangerous and nobody really wouldnt use nitros unless they raced put some snowflake rims on the car because that is what kind of rims those kind of cars had back then so take tje nitro out and i hope u sell your car

Defiantly get rid of the nitrous if you plan on selling it. I would put a set of snowflakes on it and sell the American Racing wheels (you would probably profit anyway). Although I like the bird decal on the hood, I wouldnt put it on if i was selling it. Its easy to put on, but if a potential buyer doesnt want the decal, itll be a bitch to take off

from the sounds of it there is more to returning this car into stock condition than meets the eye. I honestly don’t think you have enough time between now and the spring to bring that car back to the condition you expect.
Indeed, a 77 Trans Am will bring a lot of money in unadulterated stock condition. There were too many made, and there are too many that are cut up and destroyed by "previous owners’ tastes".
Your best bet is to sell it as it is and move on to the next project. I have a feeling that it will cost you a lot of money (eat into your expected profit margin) to bring it back into shape. The decal set is available through Year One, and so are the original style rims. However, that is probably the least of your problems in trying to bring the car back. The console is a tricky item that maybe Year One currently stocks. No 70’s car ever came with wooden anything. Well, maybe the Jaguars and Rolls Royces, but that’s about it.
